현명한 주위분들 덕분에 1월 12일에 체크해 둔 하워드 막스의 메모
 
버핏같은 시간당 ROE 높은 사람도 메일함에 있으면 제일 먼저 읽는다는데

한글도 마찬가지지만 특히 영어 독해력이 미천한 까닭에

이제서야 읽어보고 5문장을 뽑아 생각을 기록해본다

이번 메모는 개인적으로 부록의 대화 원문이 하이라이트였음

1. 심리와 숫자

 

Now, determining this value in practice is quite challenging, 

and the key to success lies not in the ability to perform a mathematical calculation, 

but rather in making superior judgments regarding the relevant inputs.

 

"돈은 숫자로 그 자태를 뽐내지만 숫자는 너무도 쉽게 흔들린다" - 슈퍼머니(1972)

 

심리라는 바람이 불면 숫자는 물결같이 움직임.

 

믿음을 유지하려면 숫자 외의 것이 필요하다

 

 

“Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.” - 알버트 아인슈타인

 

2. Seeking Alpha

 

It also stands to reason that in a time when readily discernable quantitative data is

 

unlikely to produce high-profit opportunities

 

매수 근거를 점검할 때는 '남들 다 아는 숫자'만으로는 부족함. 정보-지식-통찰 ㅇㅇ

 

3. 복리는 BUY&SELL이 아닌 HOLD

 

It’s much more feasible to have great insights about a small number of potentially huge winners, 

recognize how truly rare such insights and winners are, and not counteract them up by selling prematurely.

 

사고 팔며 복리로 굴리는 것은 거의 불가능에 가깝다(nearly impossible)



4. 의심과 호기심

 

Without attaining real knowledge of what’s going on and attempting to fully understand the positive case,

it’s impossible to have a sufficiently informed view to warrant the dismissiveness

 

that many of us exhibit in the face of innovation. 

 

가치투자의 보수적 의구심은, 호기심과 유연성(과거에 얽매이지 않고 배우려는)이 겸비되어야 한다



5. 가치를 보려면? 가치관(價値觀)

 

The goal at the end of the day should be to figure out what all kinds of things are worth and buy them 

 

when they’re available for a lot less.

 

가치를 판단하기 위한 종합적&독자적 가치관이 필요함.(Value can be found in many forms) 

기회를 잡으려면 망치를 들고 못을 찾는게 아니라, 공구함의 많은 도구를 이용할 수 있어야 한다

평생에 걸쳐서도 많은 승자를 찾아내기는 어려우므로

그것을 놓쳐서는 안 됨.

뒤집어보면 만약 기회가 많이 보인다?

착각일 가능성이 높다
